I am Md. Anowar Hossen, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of the Department of Bangla .I am highly pleased to inform you that Department of Bangla is one of the oldest departments of Gaibandha Government College. The department launched Honours Course in 1996 and Masters Course in 1999. There are 145 seats for Honours and 100 seats for Masters. Among the six scheduled posts there is one Associate Professor, one Assistant Professor and three Lecturer posts. The department consists of three rooms (one office room and two class rooms). One of the rooms is furnished with multimedia facilities like projectors, internet etc. The seminar library is enriched with 4000 books including classical and rare collection books. The students on regular basis borrow books from the seminar library and give back timely.

The department organizes various types of program such as seminar, meetings and workshops on the birth and death anniversary of renowned literary personae.
The overall result of the students of this department is always up to the mark and the teachers are regular and cordial regarding classes and other department related activities.
