Department of political science is one of the rich departments of Gaibandha Govt. College and it has more than 25 years glorious and affluent history of teaching. The department began its journey in 1996 with BSS honours course and MSS course was introduced in 1999-2000 academic year. Besides, the department has been offering masters preliminary course since 2018-2019 session. The present teaching faculties (One associate professor, one assistant professor and three lecturers) are seriously committed to innovative teaching and extra-curriculum activities. Currently the department accommodates about 1100 students, among them about 750 in under -graduate, about 250 in masters and about 100 in masters preliminary. There are three class rooms with one multimedia class room and one rich and well decorated seminar room in the department. All activities of the department are going on smoothly.
